Self-Injury & Mutilation

Who I Am and Why I Do What I Do

At a young age I fell victim to childhood molestation at the hands of an older relative. These events were traumatic enough, but when left to a young mind to figure out it was endless where thoughts can go. Starting in my early years of grade school all the way through my teenage years into my early twenties I began a vicious cycle of behaviors to deal with the traumatic abuse I experienced. Turning to self mutilation, cutting, and injuring myself in numerous ways to use physical pain to cope with the emotional pain I was dealing with inside. Also faking numerous accidents and health problems to get the attention and nurturing that I was desperately needing. This is a real and dangerous addiction that many people, young and old, face and it had its grip on me for many years. This was obviously a spiritual attack. Coming to Christ and looking back I can see where God was starting to line up his call on my life to preach and sing His word.

I am a husband and father of two and we as a family are dedicated to a life of ministry.  I have been involved in Youth and Praise and Worship ministry in some shape or form for the past ten years doing everything from playing drums, playing guitar, singing, leading worship to preaching.  I have been playing music for most of my life and have a desire and passion for playing that I often cannot express in words.  Turning my life over to Christ and answering the call of God in ministry I found that the passion for music was placed there as a gift from God.  I am now in service giving the gift back to Him.  It is to God that I give honor and glory for all the good in my life.  It’s to God that I offer my life in return.

All day long and through the night, he would wander among the tombs and in the hills, screaming and hitting himself with stones. - Mark 5:5
